So we now moved forward on making the sketches foe the dream city we were working on and also thing how all of them will look together.

WEEK5

So today we had our review week and so we had show our final sketches to ma’am and sir but instead it was a faculty + peer to peer review. We presented whatever work we did in front of everyone and explain our work.

It was really interesting because we could see others work on the same city that we had done but seeing how different their perception is than mine or others. Also the feedback that I got helped me understand what I did good and also where I could have improved or what I can do better ahead.

WEEK4

So today we got the pictures again that we got in the last class. So these are pictures that I took:

After that ma’am and one more sir saw everyone’s sketches that we had made after reading a few chapters from the book ‘invisible cities’. After everyone’s discussion was done ma’am told us to bring total 6 sketches of 3 cities and the merging the sketches that we already did into 1 or 2 was a task.

WEEK3

So today we were supposed to bring the Photos that we clicked of the our cities over a week. All of us had different pictures and narratives. Also ma’am had asked us to bring the sketches of the book ‘invisible cities’.

Ma’am one by one called us and saw the pictures and also guided some of us to redo or to change some of the pictures or the orientation of the picture. Once we were done with the pictures we started working on the sketches that we had started. And then the final photos and sketches was asked to bring in the next class with sticking the pictures in a chart paper and giving it a title.

WEEK2

So todays class started and ended with a movie. We saw this movie called “AMELIE”, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. This movie is about the girl named Amelie who lives in Paris and how she was misdiagnosed with a heart condition and so never went to school and spent her childhood at her home, which created her own imagination and fantasy land. And how she helps the people around her and finally finds her love.

I felt that it was an unusual but an interesting movie. And so we ended the lecture with the movie. After this movie was done ma’am asked us to bring 6 photographs of our city which forms a narrative.

And as always the seminar class is taken forward in the studio class and we have been reading the book “Invisible Cities”, so our assignment was to bring 15 sketches or thumbnails of 5 cities and 3 of each city in an abstract form. The chapters from the book were really difficult to understand but I thought it might be equally interesting to make them in form of sketches.

WEEK1

So it was our very first day of studio after first semester. And ma’am asked us to form a group of 4 people. We all quickly formed groups and then ma’am gave a chit to each group and there were words in each chit. The word we got was “Obnoxious”, which means something that is extremely unpleasant. And we all wondered what this was all about. Then ma’am explained us that we had to prepare a skit based on the words we had. It was interesting at the beginning but forming a story and then performing it was equally confusing and a bit difficult.

So my group had taken the topic of ‘Rape’, about how unpleasant and heinous crime it is that is left in that victims mind forever. And portrayed it with a small part showing a girl having nightmare about her being raped while she had heard her friend going through the same problem.

So in the first half of the lecture we all formed our stories and practiced our skits once and then in the second half we performed it one by one. Ma’am also asked the other groups to grade the group that did the skit.

It was fun to watch everyone act. Some were really good at it while some barely did it. Overall we had an amazing start to this class.
